Bummer. He devoted a lot of his time and money to charity. And, man, did he have a smooth voice.

    RIP Tony Franciosa

Actor Tony Franciosa has passed on. He reminded me of a "slick" version of Cliff Robertson.

He was not included in any lists on the Cyburbia Death Poll 2006.

    RIP.....Tony Franciosa.

Betty Friedan has died. She was number eight on my list. Bras everywhere spontaneously combust.

Today was her 85th birthday. What a bummer, dying on your birthday.

Granpapa died - RIP Al Lewis

Grandpapa from the Munsters passed away, Al Lewis was 82. Hell, he looked 82 back in the 60s. Did anyone have him in the death pool?

The crazy vampire came up with some neat inventions down in the basement...and he drove a hot rod hearse.

There's actually a little controversy on how old he really was. Some say he was born in 1910 and others claim he was born in 1923. Lewis himself wrote different birthdays on different documents.
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

According to the obit in yesterday's paper, they had him listed as being 95. Hey, I'm all for shaving a few years off if you want to. I'll be thirty something for at least another 5 years!

What I was amazed at was his successful career as a scout for professional basketball. Apparently his picks were used by many a winning coach including Red Auerbach. (who knew? )

    RIP Grandpa Munster...

Rest in Peace Al Lewis. You filled a number of my 'latch-key-kid' afternoons with laughter & smiles. You'll be missed.

Peter Benchley, author of ‘Jaws,’ dead at 65

    http://www.nj.com/newslogs/starledge...02.html#112318

Benchley’s "Jaws" wasn’t merely a success. It changed things. The big beach read — that was one part of its legacy. The big summer-movie blockbuster — that was another. The career of a young director named Steven Spielberg, of a rugged character actor named Roy Scheider — that was the work of "Jaws," too. And so, too, was a renewed fear of sharks, a fear that Benchley often fought against.

    Death Pool Update

Sad to hear about Don Knotts. I just watched "Mad, Mad World" last weekend and was wondering how much longer he would be with us. Good bantering in that flick with an obnoxious and lying Phil Silvers manipulating the Don Knott's character.

    Don Knotts - Mr. Limpet

    Another notable passing -

Raymond J. Mauer, who wrote the script for the landmark civil defense film, "Duck and Cover," died Wednesday after a long illness. He was 89.

As of Feb 29, the standings remain the same. Looked up the following to see if they were on anybody's list. They were not.....
