WHY is Alabama not #1?? Come on, now, people!

(OK, the Clemson team is good too, I suppose...)

Wow, it does seem early for ESPN to predict 90 years in advance. We can only assume Alabama will be on top at that point.

Because they had one of the best draft classes ever, or because they have lost 4 games in 4 years?

If Tennessee, Clemson, and FSU are ranked where they are, Ohio State is pretty fairly ranked. They will end up losing a couple games and be around 12.

Michigan is WAY overranked Mainly because they suck and Jim Harbaugh is silly. But other than that....

I agree Michigan is not a top 5 at this point.. top 10 maybe, but not top 5.

Who the hell are the Houston Cougars? Are they available? I'm into Cougars with money.

    Not enough Pac12 teams.

Listing Baylor at #21 is stupid. With everything that has been going on there, I think they'll be lucky to go 0.500.

"Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."

Well, these polls are generally based on past performance and let's face it, the coaches (or their proxy) cast these votes. Which as I've said before is just so dumb. A coach in the ACC is really not paying attention to all the other teams and games in another conference (unless they might be playing them) enough to be able to vote with any degree of knowledge. All this is for is to generate some interest for early season games. I don't even think the coaches poll should exist but that's just me.

At least the poll for the playoff doesn't come out until several weeks into the season.

Exactly 8 years to the day since App. State beat Michigan....they lead Tennessee by 7 with a quarter left.

14-14, headed to OT. This has been crazy.

App basically gave that game away. Tennessee sucks and shouldn't be #9, let alone ranked in the top 25. That game ended their season.

Tennessee if overrated. As much of the SEC is every year. It is kind of a thing the college football world does every year.

Tennessee is overrated every year since Fulmer gave them a glimmer of hope for a couple years. Now they seemed to be ranked on reputation more than anything...similar to some big10 schools.

AG - I don't particularly like either school last night, but I was pulling hard for CrAppy St.

Yeah, I don't get the lovefest for the Vols this year. But I do have to say Fulmer gave them a bit more than a glimmer, he did win a mythical national championship.

Had a good time several years ago in Tampa for the Outback Bowl with Vols fans.

And South Carolina came back to beat Vandy.

I was flipping between the 2 games for most of the night until late in the 3rd quarter off one of them, when I apparently fell asleep.

Well that was a fun opening weekend of college football. Some big boys got upset!

    Oklahoma goes down
LSU lost (& then a classless late hit at the end)
    USC didn't show up
Kentucky got beat by Southern Miss storming back in the 4th quarter

Texas came back & Florida State did too

Glad it wasn't all cupcakes on the first weekend.

In fairness, UK is a basketball school, much like my alma mater. I think they picked Southern because they thought it would be a cupcake game. Evidently, they didn't do their homework. Go Golden Eagles.
