    Degrees

I'm currently attending a community college, but plan on transferring to Eastern Michigan University to get my Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning. It is accredited by the ACSP. After that I'm going to get my MArch. I want to eventually get into urban design. So my question is, if I get my BS and MArch, would the Master of Urban Design be pointless? Should I get additional GIS training (there is one course included in the BS degree)?

No, I think the path you are on is a good one - but don't forget that landscape architecture is urban design too! Master's degrees are more necessary in this profession than they used to be if you want to be upper management later in your career.

    good luck!

    well.....

My two cents (may be waaay over valued )

If you get an MArch and undergrad planning degree, consider a public policy Masters if you have any interest in being the big boss one day....at least it would make it easier

I would think that once you get an MArch, you'll consider yourself an expert on everything......snicker......he he he......then you'll want a handle like "The One"......

    The question is...

The question is whether you are going to go into the public sector, private sector or teach. Depending on your answer, you should consider a MPA, MArch or Ph.D.
