What would you do with $1000?

Not exactly life changing money, but enough to do something with. There seems to be a $1000 error in my favor in my checking account. What would you do with it?

Check your personal accounting.... check out for any weird money transfer you might have received and have no idea of where it comes from. If that's the case, then ask the bank. I think that'd be the most likely case.

If anyone really does show up to Stanfest with that much cash in hand to shower us all in alkyhall, they can feel free to claim the title of grand marshal.

Maybe this should be a spinoff thread - "how would you spend $1000 at Stanfest to have a good time?" Definitely need to have a poll with it including such choices as 'buy a five volume set of 120 year old leather bound, gold leaved, works of Plato and have a spirited discussion about the nature of Beauty afterwards'

My husband is anal about balancing our checkbook, so if it is $1000 off it would obviously be the bank's error. I'd bring it to their attention right away, cause sooner or later they will figure it out anyway, and better to get it cleared up now to avoid future confusion.

Agreed. There was a $200 error in my account and I never said anything (no, I didn't spend it either) and within a week they found it and deducted it.

Have you been in contact with Nigerian princes lately? This is a no-brainer. Tell the bank immediately. Once they discover their mistake, they'll get their money back, one way or the other.

Pay for a private trolley car for the Planning Disasters Bingo on 28th street. With on board kegs???

In all seriousness, back track over your expenses and if you canít figure it out then contact the bank. If they say that itís yours ask them to put that in writing.

The error lies with a transfer from checking to savings the bank neglected to make.
OK, maybe I forgot to tell them
Anyway, It's not money I didn't realize I had, just in the wrong account. Oh yeah, it is also spoken for . Maybe Stanfest '08

Wow, no one said 'blow it', you are all so responsible.

I'd do nothing to see if the bank corrects the matter in a couple of days...if nothing happens within two weeks....well..you decide.
