Hi all, I do accessible advocacy for cities and public spaces and am gathering information and issues from practitioners. I'm not in the mode of griping about steps and such, but am interested in looking at universal themes, issues, problems and potential solutions. I post on the Pro-Urbanism listserv, (tough crowd they are), and on several access-related forums. My approach is that a city which is truly sustainable and inclusive and 'green' is also accessible for as many bodies as possible, as in body types. Wheelchairs, slow walkers, mature, low vision, assistance animals, and yes, all the rest of you 'temporarily-abled' folks.
As Paul Rand said, "Good design is goodwill." I am a graphic designer by trade...
I hope to learn more and to share what I know.
