    Most common strip mall tenants

I'm looking to develop a list of the most common strip mall tenants that could occupy 880-22000 sqft units. I've got a decent base of ideas like:

    pharmacies
    bars
    video rental
    restaurants
    banks
    bookstores
    music store
    jewlery/watches
    tanning
    check cashing
    copier/printing
    juice bar
    nutrition
    bed/bath/linen
    toys/video games
    pizza
    coffee
    dry cleaners
    insurance
    nail salons
    hair cut
    smoke shop
    cell phone

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Go to the Economic Census. For the nation or for an individul state, get the counts of number of businesses by type. Divide this by the population to get the number of businesses per capita. Then figure out which are likely to go into a strip location.

Do you really mean a strip mall? Uses like a bank or pharmacy are going to prefer freestanding locations.

    Moderator note:
Renaming the thread thread from"Commercial Tenants", which is quite vague. In the future, please use descriptive thread titles.

In a thread like this, it seems like we could just name various types of retail and service businesses; we might as well copy and paste a good portion of the NAICS here. Also, 880 to 22,000 square feet covers a broad range of potential uses; a typical CVS or Walgreens drugstore is about 10,000 square feet. You asked a rather broad question, and I don't think there's a one-size-fits-all answer.

Depending on what other kind of uses are nearby or socioeconomics of the area:

    Laundrymat
    card shops
    Jewelry stores
    Florist? Did you mention this?

It sounds like you are trying to make a use list for strip centers for zoning maybe?

It may be easier to make a list of what you don't want in a strip center. Be careful with generalizations about size though, new chain grocery stores in some parts of the country are 100,000 sq ft +.

Most of the new strip malls around here have check cashing stores, the Dollar Store, Chinese Food by the pound, Curves or Champs, a phone store, and the rest of the spaces remain vacant.

Seems to be a lot of optometrists/eyeglass chain stores in the strip malls around here. And kiddie art/music lesson types of places.

Other than that you've covered everything that comes to mind.
