Hello All:



Iowa Great Places is currently calling for proposals for our next Great
Place designees. We ask applicants to engage in an inclusive strategic
planning process that identifies the unique assets of their
neighborhoods/communities/counties/regions, creates a vision for
augmenting and connecting those assets, and lays out a plan for
realizing that vision. State government coaches will be available to
assist places through the application process. Iowa Great Places will
partner with the selected places to provide technical assistance and
greater access to state resources (such as additional consideration for
state grants and historic tax credits earmarked specifically for Great
Places and cultural and entertainment districts) for the purpose of
realizing their vision. Much more information is available at

The Great Places Citizens Advisory Board will be available for
consultations to prospective applicants on Monday, July 16, at the State
Historical Building in Des Moines. Please send me an RSVP by July 11th
if you'd like a consultation. Intent to Apply Letters are due August
1st and completed proposals are due September 4th. Please contact me
