    Certifications needed?

I heard about Six sigma certification. The course structure for six sigma includes stats and project management.Does anyone think it to be of any use to planners?
Also, is a membership in the International economic development council useful?

I have been a member of IEDC for many years and have been certified for six or seven. The certification is important, as I see it, but maintiaining it requires a big financial commitment. The courses are a mixed bag - I suppose better for people who have little experience in economic development. Like any conference, their's are best for networking, and not necessarily for the sessions. I do believe IEDC is much better managed than APA, is far more responsive to members, and does a good job of providing news and information.
Anyone want to adopt a dog?
