The Cyburbia Forums: because listservs are boring.

This annoying message will appear on every screen until you register an account or log in. Membership is completely free, and we promise not to send you any spam.

The Cyburbia Forums is the oldest and most active English language urban planning message board on the Internet, and one of the small number of online communities where members enjoy intelligent, troll-free discussion. Cyburbia has hundreds of active members, yet is a strong community full of creative, friendly, and occasionally offbeat planners, planning students, architects, urbanists and other like-minded people who care about and/or help shape the built environment. Cyburbia Forums members enjoy a sense of community and camaraderie that is unmatched by any planning-related web site or listserv. We'd love to have you join us as another Cyburbian.

Announcements: please read this before you post

If you're paying to post an an announcement on Planetizen or an APA Chapter site, please extend the same courtesy for your post on Cyburbia.

Cyburbia is visited by about 90,000 unique Web surfers every month, with about 140,000 visits and about 1,200,000 viewed pages. The vast majority of Cyburbia visitors are working planners and planning students. It's a great place to get broad exposure for your announcement. Titles of the five most recent announcement posts will appear on the Cyburbia front page.

A few things to note if you're posting an announcement:
  • The Announcements subforum is intended for announcements of urban planning/town planning-related events, seminars, conferences, courses, calls for papers, publications, RFPs, RFQs, and so on. Job listings can be posted in the Job Board subfourm.
  • If you have fewer than five posts, and you include a Web or email address in your job listing, your post will be sent to a moderation queue before it appears.
  • Use the "highlight" tags for any applicable deadlines. As an example of using this tag, type [ highlight ] (deadline) [ /highlight ], without the spaces; it will display like this: (deadline). This will assist others in knowing any applicable deadlines, and moderators in knowing when posts should be removed. If an announcement does not include a deadline, it will be removed one month after it is posted.
  • APA chapter sites usually charge between $25 and $50 to post an announcement. Other planning-related sites charge up to $100 for an announcement. On Cyburbia, there is no charge for posting an announcement to this subforum. However, if you are joining Cyburbia only to post an announcement, or you ask the webmaster to post for you, we would appreciate a donation of US$20. Announcements accompanied by a donation will be made "sticky" at the top of this page. Donations may be sent via PayPal to cyburbia (аt) cyburbia (dоt) org.
