Adaptive reuse of firehouses

I'm looking into taking on a project in my community that entails restoring an old, crumbling, downtown firehouse.

If anyone has info on adaptive reuse of firehourse, links to other projects completed or inprogress, news articles about this subject, even info on buildings for sale - please let me know about them.

Here is a decommissioned firehouse that is being sold at this time. It is located in a solid middle class area that is located near a local business strip. Good luck on your project.

The Nines Restaurant, a bar/restaurant down the street from Cornell in Ithaca NY, is a former fire house (hence the name).

Fire! A Restaurant (really obvious name), in New Orleans, is housed in a converted firehouse.

A great example of a restored firehouse can be found not far from you in the Village of Coxsackie. The c. 1871 building is now home to a technology services company, Intelligent Technology Solutions. The Greene County Planning Department provided some financial assistance for the project. You can find some photos here.

Here in LA one has been converted to a restaurant, and I think there has been one in Santa Barbara converted into a bed and breakfast inn.

Seriously, in Columbia, SC, there is a restaurant that was a firehouse, and in West Columbia, someone converted a circa 1927 firehouse into a home.

The beauty of this one is it was used for fireboats so its on the river with recreational boat slips now. Other than that, it wasnt the most creative interior conversion.

Concord, Massachusetts has a great restaurant in theirs - this seems to be a typical use for this building - one of my favorite restaurants in Boston is an old firehouse on Boylston Street too

Arts and cultural centers seem to be a very popular use for old firehouses. I knew of a few, but found all of these on just one Google search. Holy Crud! And I am sure there are more.

Wow a lot of great stuff up here. Here's another:

In Richmond, a historic firehouse was converted into a contemporary theater space. Quite a following in town, too:

Also, I think this place Gallery 5, also in Richmond, has some kind of connection with firefighting. I think it's an old firehouse as well, but I could be wrong. One of the hottest art tickets in town, though I think their stuff is mostly sensational crap.

This is the old Central Fire Station on Division Street, Sheffield, UK. It has a bar in the ground floor (Bungalows and Bears) and resi above.

In Kalamazoo, MI the Northside Economic Potential Group has turned an old firehouse into its headquaters and has leased the rest of the space to 7 other tenants. NEPG is an economic development group that is trying to bring economic opportunitie to the neighborhood. There tenenats pay below market rent and have graduated from the business development classes.
