Article & Blog on Annoying "Quote" Abuse

    http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5h...qTvA_SAIkWXzAg

    HIGHLIGHT
The blight that Bethany Keeley exposes on her "Blog" of "Unnecessary" Quotation Marks (http://quotation-marks.blogspot.com) is of a benign sort, of course, nothing like global warming or endangered wildlife.
Do you think the use of "quotes" are overly abused ?
Do you have any good bad examples ?

Do you or know anybody that still does the 2 hand, 2 finger quote jesture like Dr. Evil ?

Another good example of the grammer police in action.

"Hi, my name is MZ and I am a quote abuser"

Her rant was probably inspired by some e-mail of mine.

That blog is a great example of why I enjoy surfing the "Information Superhighway." Thank you for sharing!

I've actually made comments in these forums about my frequent use of of quotations.

However, I do not use them in person like Dr. Evil.

Oh! Then there is the related punctuation abuse problem of using an exclamation point for something that isn't an exclamation!

I used to get a magazine that had a frequent contributor who used quotation marks and exclamation points like they were money-makers for him. Drove me nuts. I thought editors edited articles, but in this case at least it wasn't true. Maybe that's one of the reasons the magazine is now defunct.

I use quotes in a lot of my writing, but I think I use them "just enough."

However, (and this is my opinion [you know]) I believe that my usage of parenthesis (if I could spell that correctly), is out of hand (or out of control).
You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone

You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone

"Great" site. And some great links, too. I like www.passiveaggressivenotes.com.

Well "I" don't know if I would call it "annoying" or "abuse" given "society" has "particular expectations" of what can and can not be "said."
The most foolish thing one can do this fall is to vote for Clinton or Trump. Wake up, get out of the matrix, and send a message to the political establishment that you won't play their game.
