Does anybody have an example of a well thought out study that shows what impact a substantial infrastructure improvement might have on a local community?
I am not interested so much in looking at how traffic will be affected, but more at how assessed property values may increase or decrease or sales tax increases, etc...
I know there must be something out there but I think I am looking in all the wrong places or not using the correct terms.
I'm also looking for some studies on the impact of a highway bypass in rural towns.
The NCDOT sponsored (maybe?) a study last year: Economic Impact of Bypass Projects for Small Towns in NC, but as of yet it hasn't been published.
Try looking for EIR's (Environmental Impact Report) for any California city's General Plan. The better ones will have some discussion/analysis. You might also find some EIRs for infrastructure improvement projects themselves done by cities, Caltrans and other governmental agencies.
Most of them you can find on-line now-a-days.
