Well since I was on the planning committee, I probably should go.

Seriously, it should be a good conference.

I was going to go, to get my law and ethics CM hours out of the way. But, our daycare lady is off those days (to go get married) so I'm gonna have to stay home with the kiddo. Believe me, I'm not complaining about getting to stay home with my pumpkin. But now I'm kinda wishing I'd get to meet up with you all.

The opening reception is at the aquarium Wed. Nite.

Then off to Mass and Confession on the strip in East Dubuque.

I'm planning to be there. My company has a booth and I am speaking on Wednesday. I'll be getting into Dubuque on Tuesday night, driving back from a project I am working on in Iowa.
Anyone want to adopt a dog?

Revisiting this thread to see who is still planning to go and what night everyone is available. I'm good with Wednesday or Thursday.

I plan on being in that lecture! YAY!

I assume most are going to the reception at the aquarium. I hope its open for viewing. I hear its not a giant aquarium but it is really nice.

I know of three of us into doing a pub crawl.

Instead of an LaeFest how about a LaeCrawl?

I'm going to that one too. I'm in for a laeCrawl, what night?

FWIW I had another reception this fall at the aquarium, it was open to wander around. It's not huge but it is very nice.

There is also a winery right next to the hotel..

    OK, will send info tomorrow!

It will be Halloween night or maybe the next night. Do we dress up on Halloween night? I got the perfect outfit for a Lae Crawl on Halloween night! (Theme specific to beer without being to cheesy or anything! )

Still not sure of my plans after the formalities but I probably should hang with Thursday's Lunch Speaker Jim Bowen, since I recruited him.

I should warn you all that there are some SERIOUS party animals attending; you are welcome to hang with us if you dare.

I think I have you all figured out except Duke . . .

he he, I've heard that before!

I am looking forward to this conference. If Dubuque has an underbelly it does not like to admit, I and Transit Slug will find it. We specialize in finding the interesting places that don't fit the mainstreem. These are the places, if they exist in a location, that usually stand alone away from other places, the customer base is usually service industry based but they have been marginalized, and usually also have the most dynamic music.

No normal city functionary wants to admit they have such a place, and will do anything to eliminate it. In short, we like the snapshot of a place and its local comment on the local culture.

We both love the planning world, but it can be so rediculously and snobishly midle class trying to escape from the service industry class (blue colar has mostly dissapeared in my opinion).

I will love to hear what the Cardinal has to say about developing lifestyle centers. What lifestyles to develop and the exclusion of what lifestyles. That's also what is neat about this proffession. There are ALWAYS hard questions to answer and often there is no correct, appropriate, or good methods of doing so. Its an amazing balancing act.

I am looking forward to meeting The Cardinal again.

Does D, Iowa have such a place? We get to hash it out over beer! YAY!

Even though I am from the other "D" Iowa, I love Dubuque. There is plenty of grit to be had, and check out East Dubuque if you really want to find the underbelly.

Head for Mulgrews on the strip for a Chili Dog and a Schlitz.

    Its gonna be fun . . .
