There have been a couple questions in the past related to international development from a UN or USAid standpoint... what I am wondering is how prevalent private international development consulting is? Having worked the magic of google, I found several of these types of companies located in Canada, the UK, Japan, etc. but none in the US... is there a reason for this? These companies did everything from develop transportation systems to tourist resort design and development to post-conflit reconstruction. This sounds like a fascinating, albeit small, aspect of planning, but it seems like in an increasingly global and urban landscape, these types of jobs will become more commonplace. Any thoughts?
