Dual degree for planning and urban design

    Hi there,

I am very interested in planning as a career. I eventually would like to work in a private sector design firm doing large scale neighborhood planning, with emphasis on pedestrian friendly streetscapes. I am planning on attending CU Denver as this is close to were I live and do not currently have the option to move.

    My options are:
    MUP (2 years)
    MLA (3 years)
MUP and Master of Urban Design (3 years)
    MUP and MLA (4 years)

I have been accepted into both the MUP and MLA programs. I am extremely torn as to what would be the best route, with the best job prospects, considering my interests in both planning and design. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

I would recommend enrolling in the MLA program.

Yes, MLA would be more valuable than an MUP to the private sector.
