    Death Pool 2008

I love that Bear calls this "Dirtsandwichpalooza". Maybe not PC. But funny by Cyb standards...

I never win. I never score. I never get close. But it's fun. I'm sticking with my 2007 folks, none of whom had the decency to expire.... (But reserve the right to alter my picks if any of them, um, leave us by Dec 31...).

    Prince Philip
    Ricardo Montalban
Joan Rivers (how much botox is healthy?)
    Arnold Palmer
    Keith Richards
    Clint Eastwood
    Ringo Starr
    Betty White
    Muhammad Ali
    Jimmy Carter

You're making your picks before Thanksgiving? Hell, let's put the X-mas decorations up, too! Sheesh.... (Don't give her any ideas, folks.)

I don't make my picks until after Jesus and I celebrate our birthdays.

    But that's just me.

REMEMBER THE RULES you get 10 picks. They must be celebrities, or anyone that gets their name in the NY Post Obits.

With Black Friday on us I guess we're good to go! Don't forget you get +1 point for most tragic pick

    Here is my '08 picks:

    The Pope
    Larry King
    Jimmy Kimel (most tragic)
George HW Bush (the older one)
    Rita Moreno
    Jerry Sienfeld
    Bob Dole
    Michael Jackson
    Jimmy Sommerfield
    Elizabeth Dole

Damn. Apparently i took a 1980's political and pop music track

EDIT: The Pope is always a good pick.

    Ernest Borgnine
    Dr. Jack Kevorkian

For me, although it might be a bit early, I'll put up now.

My list of those whom will see New Year's Day of 2008 but not see NYD of 2009:

    -Edward M Kennedy (USSenator)
    -Robert Byrd (USSenator)
    -Les Paul (Musician)
    -Brittany Spears (No idea)
    -Charles 'Chuck' Yeager (General-USAF (retired))
    -Michael Moore (No idea)
    -Fidel Castro (Blowhard dictator)
    -Raul Castro (Understudy)
    -Paul Harvey (Radio newsguy)
    -Jimmy Carter (ex USA President)

If any of these decide not to wait, I'll post replacements.

    Mike

So, when is the deadline to get my picks posted? This will be my first year picking/posting, so I want to make sure I get them in on time.

"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

I think this has kind of been answered, but if I get a set of picks and one kicks off before December 31st, can I change that pick?

    John Forsythe is still alive?

Good grief, Oral Roberts is still alive. That moron.

Don't go after "Uncle" Walter Cronkite, he's the icon of my childhood!

safeage has the best/most imaginative list! Rex Reed is worth the whole Death Pool exercise...

(RJ's website is soooo cheating. I looked at it a couple years ago.... but I like to pick people less obvious....)

Um...the gravesite is on the grounds of the eponymous museum, which is real pretty (fountain, trees, grassy knolls).
Here's the proof of his demise:
