    Cyber Monday Worker Productivity

alongside March Madness as days when companies can expect distracted workers and a noticeable drop in productivity.

The consulting firm said that while some productivity will be lost, employers should not fret because, realistically, workers are not paid by the minute and are not expected to be productive every minute of their work day.

Overall, "... unless online shopping causes deadlines to be missed or Internet performance to suffer, companies should not attempt to crack down on the practice. Doing so could negatively affect moral and loyalty, which ultimately will have a greater impact on the bottom line than a few minutes of cyber shopping,"

What are your thoughts on this ?
Why is this better on-line security on the work computer then at home ?
    Oddball
Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

    I've been productive today....

    I slept extra.
I went to an interview for a temporary gig that pays well and got it.
I came to work at 10:30 instead of 9am.
I've had a cup of tea and a chat with the co-worker.
    I read the newspaper.
    I played trivia.
I am ready to go home because I have been so productive already

I've been productive today, too. I terminated an employee for cause this morning. That's gotta count for something.

Is it really any worse than visiting Cyburbia at work?

I still don't have access to all the servers and drives I need at work, so I'm real productive:

    -play trivia through Cyburbia
    -catch up on Wikipedia topics
    -seriously thinking about shopping (online!)
    -reading emails

And that's just fill for the morning. I'm sure the afternoon will be just as exciting.
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

Getting ready for tomorrow's Advisory Committee meeting. Printing forms, agendas, directional signs, gathering various stuff - productive, you betcha.

Did look online for a price. Does that count for cyber shopping Monday?

I do shop at work because I have dial-up at home - but I do try to keep it to a minimum which is easy because I don't have much money to spend anyway

I don't have a computer at work, so I am most productive.

Among other things my work IT blocks shopping, sports and cyburbia. So I am quite productive - when I am not staring at the ceiling for extended periods of time

I didn't do any shopping, but I did add a few things to my Amazon wish list.

Not exactly in the spirit of Christmas, was it?
