    Municipal planning department accreditation?

A local department of public works recently received 'accredited' status, which is causing quite a stir in the municipal circles. After being examined for best practices etc. the department is now officially 'good.'

Is there any sort of accreditation or certification for municipal planning/economic development departments out there? I've searched the APA site and the forums here, but haven't found anything about accreditation other than planning departments in schools (and AICP of course for individuals).

Thanks for any information you might be able to share!
