    2008 - Death Pool Update

My prof from Sonoma State -- yes, it was last year. I just learned Larry Livingston is gone. What a great guy.

Johnny Grant, the avuncular honorary mayor of Hollywood who traveled the world as Tinseltown's No. 1 cheerleader for more than a half-century, has died. He was 84.

An incredibly early-in-the-year score for Suburb Repairman and RichmondJake, who both listed Sir Edmund Hillary.

I don't think I've guessed one correct dead person in 3-4 years of doing this.

Oh damn, I thought I was the only one that had picked him.

Maybe I should move to Florida and RJ & I can set up one of those creepy-looking psychic reading places in the middle of the Everglades!

Reading the article he played for the Brooklyn (NY) Dodgers before they moved to west.
There was even an article about him in the NY Times Sport section: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/14/sp...es&oref=slogin
Winning pitcher of a 7th game in a World Series is notable accomplishment ?

It was notable in 1955 when the Brooklyn Dodgers were finally able to beat the Yankees for the series after many years of performances that rivaled the modern Red Sox for failure. I'm sorry young-uns but if you're going to participate in a death pool, you've got to realize that it's mostly OLD PEOPLE who you may not have heard of who are dying these days.

I'm going to block you soon you never add anything worth while to any thread.

    Johnny Podres > Larry Livingston

(Just got home from 4 hours of council, you were just in the wrong place at the wrong time)

That was totally uncalled for Tide. Think before you post - it doesn't matter if you're in a bad mood.

Gee I'm sorry you feel that way, but regional deaths don't normally register on the death thread. Especially "special" people that the general public never heard of. Like Romance novel authors (like the guys could care less...). Or minor sports figures (like the women could care less...). Hello??? Nobody voted for this dead guy. Like you guys would recognize Danielle Steel in a death thread??

I'm not at the wrong place at the wrong time, you are, maybe you should reconsider your post first.

    Easy there, folks.

In watching over this space in the past, I've noticed that the Death Pool Update thread has been used to keep score of the predicted deaths and as a catch-all for death announcements, generally. That's why we have announcements of folks the ilk of Sir Edmund Hillary as well as Larry Livingston.

There is no need to comment if you don't recognize the departed. Just move on.

Let's play nice from now on, okay?

Dang it Kjel, ya beat me to it

A few years back in a different work environment, we all had our own Superball and created several games using them. Coordination tests were especially fun.

Once took a superball into a racketball court. Word of wisdom: Don't.
