I know the other [insert famous person's name here]

An article in the Dallas Morning News this past Sunday describes how local men named Tony Romo are dealing with the special attention others give them, now that the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys has made it a household name. Their girlfriends said they brag about dating "Tony Romo" to people they meet.

A few years ago during the Pistons-Lakers NBA finals, I had a customer named Ben Wallace, same name as the Pistons star, but very different appearance.

What people have you known that shared a name with a famous or infamous person? Did you joke about it? Did they like the jokes, or not appreciate the association?

I've been working with Phil Jackson. I keep wanting to give him crap about "his days coaching the Bulls," but so far I've held back. I'm sure he gets it a lot and is over hearing that joke. Still tempting, though.

I buy my vehicles from Charlie Brown.
I also know a guy with the same name as the actor that plays Pearcy Weasley in the Harry Potter series

I knew a Michael McDonald 30 or so years go and he got really annoyed that the other guy with the name was so pedestrian in music. "I'm Mike, I'm Mike, I'm not that a##hole". Yeah no s#it, you're 60 and fat, buddy.

There's an Al Gore in my neck of the woods. Can you imagine the abuse he's taken about the internet and global warming? "What do mean we, Al? Got a polar bear in your pocket?"

I know a famous writer / director on IMDB.COM. Thanks to him, I am now 2 degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon (was 3 degrees a few years ago)

Other than that, there is a guy on IMBD.COm with my same name in many films.

Other than that, my best friend is named James Taylor.

    Good call.

Samir: No one in this country can ever pronounce my name right. It's not that hard: Samir Na-gheen-an-a-jar. Nagheenanajar.

Michael Bolton: Yeah, well at least your name isn't Michael Bolton.

Samir: You know there's nothing wrong with that name.

Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent a** clown became famous and started winning Grammys.

Samir: Hmm... well why don't you just go by Mike instead of Michael?

Michael Bolton: No way. Why should I change? He's the one who sucks.

My son was in the NICU with Deion Sanders. Since we had not yet named my son, we were jokingly calling him Tiger.

The NICU nurses thought it was amusing to have Deion Sanders and 'Tiger' Woods in side-by-side incubators.

    Off-topic:
My son was five weeks premature, but a solid five pounds. Deion looked as though he might have been 10 or more weeks preemie -- he was really, really tiny. I often wonder what happened to him.

As I was watching to Avs/Capitals hockey game last night, I was reminded of Washington's old goalie (Vezina Trophy winner from 1995) named Jim Carey.

Anyone else remember this guy? He kind of went away since winning the top goalie honors. (Sorta like Jose Theodore)

I work with Tom Brady. Don't know how he has time to come to work every day, what with that football thing.

She married into the name. I've heard of less fortunate combinations.
