Charlise Theron is in town filming a new movie. I was tapped as an extra for a scene filmed in a restaurant. Tough duty: I had to eat filet mignon in take after take. Here's my favorite part about the whole thing: the local paper wrote that in addition to Theron and the other Hollywood types, "local celebrities such as ...[Otis]" participated. Whoo-hoo, I'm a celebrity! I can't wait for People magazine to do a poll on whether I'm fat.
So, are you going to go all diva on us now?

There also was some zuccini on the plate, but I worked most steadily on the filet. It got smaller and smaller as the takes went on, so they brought me a new one. The extras at the table next to mine played the roles of people who had finished their meals. They had dirty plates in front of them. They were not happy to see me eating the filet.

The script (or "the material" as we on the inside call it) was already written well before the strike. No SAG card; apparently it was an open shop. No update, not yet on the worst dressed list. As for my birthday and the "born on this day" list, I think the only thing that matters to the Cyburbia crowd is whether AP will note my passing. But Kim Bassinger, who also is in the movie, has the same birthdate as Mrs. Otis.

My movie opens on Friday nation-wide. It's The Burning Plain. I walked into a store today and one of the clerks said, "I see you're in The Burning Plain." Apparently he saw a bootleg copy and saw me in it. So I didn't end up on the cutting room floor after all!
Can't wait to see it on the silver screen!
