Identifying firms for market research and analysis

I'm trying to find some directories (or ultimately just firms) that focus on market analysis/assessment/research regarding real-estate, affordable housing, tax credit, etc.

I’ve had trouble finding very many and I attribute the difficulty to a general lack of familiarity; I’m trying to a pool of quality firms for potential RFP's (I intern at a PHA.)

Does anyone have any advice or experience in this field?

-Also, I don't imagine proximity matters as much as it does with other services however it might be important to note that I’m focusing on the East-coast (US)
