    Valentine's Day - 2008

OK all you romantic Cyburbians. What are your plans with your SO(s)/spouse/concubine(s), etc.? Chocolate? Roses? Dinner out? Spill it.

ZG and I are spending a quite night at home. Grilling steaks and I picked up a nice bottle of California cabernet at Sam's Club to compliment the mood.
    Annoyingly insensitive

I tell ya it is a conspiracy $$$ by the floral, jewelry, candy, & card industry.

1 - Not very romantic just an old single guy.
    2 - Don't have one.

I refuse to further line the pockets of the Hallmark conspiracy.

Probably headed to the Y to enjoy an elliptical. I know they won't have red candy hearts and flowers out.

My advice for the guys – for those of you with a real life long love….not a just a girl friend or someone that’s helps us pass the time….go all out. Yes, man logic tells us the flowers are a waste of money, they die….and yes we all understand it is only a Hallmark holiday. But, it is also an opportunity for us guys to show some class. Happy Valentines Day.

Would you take advice from a flying monkey lightly?

I should probably figure that out. I think we're going to cook a meal at home. As far as a gift...I don't have one.

We recently bought our wedding rings for the big day in May so those rings are going to be our Valentine's Day gifts to each other as well.

No romantic meals at home, to many children.
There has been discussion about dinner and a movie.
    Certainly a card.
He brought home a few flowers for me already.
We have talked about getting away for a weekend but not this one.
It is all a matter of perspective!!!

I can't be the only spouse who frequently observes events like Valentines Day on the weekend preceeding or following the actual day if it falls on a weekday? I mean, isn't every restaurant, florist, and chocolatier typically worked beyond their capacity on the day itself?
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. A candle lit dinner for three: Like RJ (if that isn't scary), I've bought two very nice filets and bottle of wine. She is buying the sweet potatoes and making a salad. Wee P has already asked for a hotdog.

No gifts to speak of. Recently however I did notice that a can of cashews disappeared rather quickly that we had at the house, so I'm going to buy her a can and put a big red bow on it (I can do that right since we don't live in Saudi Arabia)

Reservations at a swanky restaurant were made a couple of weeks ago. Card still needs to be purchased (lunch hour project), but no gifts. We agreed years ago not to do gifts, just cards, for Valentines Day. This was after our first V-Day together, when I got him a card, and he bought me chocolates, flowers and a card.

I proposed to my girlfriend last Saturday so our valentines day will be fairly non-eventful this year, probably just out to dinner.

However, we will be traveling to Cleveland this weekend to visit my sister and she is having a cocktail party at a bar downtown

Mrs. The One and I went to a swanky fund raiser and danced/drank the night away last weekend....ended up winning a silent auction for a cutting board and necklace.......and an open auction for tinting our windows in one of our vehicles The good food and dancing does the trick guys....get out there and DANCE!!!!

My spouse completely blew it with my birthday last week, so I would hope he'll at least remember to get me a Valentine's Day card. Of course, that means I need to do the same!

Same thing we do every night... talk on the phone for 2+ hours. I work outside Austin, she's at school in Norman, OK. Being engaged and living 400 miles apart is kinda rough. At least she'll be here next weekend (the 23rd) for her birthday. Only three months until the wedding...

Don't have a valentine. Thursday is the day I pick up Junior from school. We'll probably get dinner at one of those pizza places with games and prizes and lots of noisy kids running around and screaming, loud blaring music in the background. Very unromantic.

    Nothing.

Our anniversary is exactly 1 week before (Feb. 7) Actually, Feb 14th would have been a better date for all of us, but no way were we going to deal with all that schlock.

    Valentines day for grad student

This year my valentine (being protested by my significant other) is my thesis...first I have to go to class until 8:30pm...then home to work on my thesis...how romantic!
