2015 NCAA College Football Thread of Awesomeness

So the new Coaches Poll comes out today (Amway Coaches Poll on USAToday) and shows no surprises. Last year's #1 starts this year as #1...yawn (but hinkgator is doing a happy dance). So let's see where the Top 25 fall in line:

    1. Ohio State University (the)
    2. Texas Christian
    3. Alabama
    4. Baylor
    5. Oregon
    6. Michigan State
    7. Auburn
    8. Florida State
    9. Georgia
    10. Southern Cal
    11. Notre Dame
    12. Clemson
    13. Louisiana State
    14. UCLA
    15. Ole Miss
    16. Arizona State
    17. Georgia Tech
    18. Wisconsin
    19. Oklahoma
    20. Arkansas
    21. Stanford
    22. Arizona
    23. Missouri
    24. Boise State
    25. Tennessee

Interesting little group we have here. Once again the SEC dominates the number of teams.

Let the bands start playing, the drum corp cadence begin, mascots running, cheerleader watching and the fans start yelling...

Devils with a nice 16 seed. Looks good to me. I'm sure they'll break the top 10 mid season and then lose to some unranked team and get kicked off the list.

On another note, there's too much green in the top 10.

Ah, the (completely ridiculous) preseason college football poll. And once again, Notre Dame is somehow sniffing the Top 10. It really is amazing how often this happens. I don't think any team in the history of sport gets as much mileage out of past (50 years or more) performance as well as close losses. It shouldn't surprise me anymore but yet every year I do a double-take and roll my eyes.

Before I even saw MD Planner's post I was gonna say Notre Dame football makes yet another top rated list....WHY, again?
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

At what point do these polls finally acknowledge that the $EC is not as good as they would have you believe? Their supposedly best teams all stank up the joint during the last bowl season... 'Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss and LSU all failed to represent the $EC banner.

"Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."

Perhaps because the SEC won 7 of the last 10 national championships?

I think that UofM has the possibility of being a top 25 team in the next two years. I think this season they will break even and next season they will have a winning year and make it to a bigger bowl game. However they following season, they will be contenders.

Despite liking Brian Kelly as a person and a coach, I don't think that the Irish should be in the top 10.
The most foolish thing one can do this fall is to vote for Clinton or Trump. Wake up, get out of the matrix, and send a message to the political establishment that you won't play their game.

I think there is some merit to Coach Leach's proposal to have a 10 game season and a 64 game payoff. It would be fun to watch, no cream puff games ( you hope), regular season means more for seeding so a loss does not preclude a solid team from winning the championship. Regular season finishes up a week before Thanksgiving with round 1 over the Turkey day weekend. Give a week break for finals during the second or third week in December and you can finish the season the same time as the current national championship game.

For money reasons and TV contracts it would never happen but the college football office pool and meaningful college football throughout December would be fun.

Arkansas I like when the SEC talks trash and then loses to a MAC school

We will see this week when NIU comes to Columbus. Maybe the Buckeye's fate will be the same.

    Hmmm big 10 and 1 and 2.

I think that MSU will be an unexpected powerhouse that will take down OSU.

The USA Today poll is the Coaches poll, and neither it nor the AP look anything like what you have...so what poll did you post?

The polls for this week, fwiw.

The SEC does not claim that former Big TenElevenTwelve doofus. I can't speak for Mastiff, but hopefully Arky fires him (and their AD, assuming he's the same idiot that hired Petrino) and gets back to being competitive without an embarrassment of a head coach.

How on earth are Mizzou and The Barn still ranked?

Nice weekend for the Dawgs - hanging 52 on Spurrier was awesome.
