a better discussion, less random, less dull:

RJ-ing out at noon tomorrow to head over the same (I think) latitude to the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont to see our good friends - snow-shoeing, staying warm with some good gin, playing cards into the wee hours of the morning with some good gin, and some good well planned meals (for a nice change) cooked in the Glenwood are all part of the trip!

The kid and I are heading to central FL for the long weekend to visit my mom, see friends, and go to a good mall.

Friday PM: Picking my daughters up from the babysitter and heading home for a pizza party with just the girls and me. Good stuff. I'm giving the wife a night out, since she's been basically running the house while I've been recovering.

Saturday: Meeting the father-in-law, who wants to take his grandaughters Chirstmas shopping. I think we're officially past the 12 days of Christmas, but who turns down more gifts? Plus I think he's buying me something too. What kinda of cool power tool should I get?

Sunday: I have no idea. Relax. Shovel more snow perhaps. Fold laundry. Clean the house. We'll see.

The house to myself. Sit around in my underwear, scratch myself, drink wine, watch sports, and eat foods the other half won't touch (fish). And maybe get dressed for a few hours and go out to take a few pictures.

Friday: After consuming a tamale dinner from the joint down the street, I will partake in some herbal remedies, washed down with cold lager. Afterwhich I will begin my manifesto and memior while listening to sad Bartok symphonies at full volume (like put it on 11...)

Saturday: Wake up in the afternoon from my previous night's stupor and order a pizza. I won't eat, but rather I will want assurance that I am still... in control. Then I will set up a lawn chair on the roof and sit, watching the brown wind-swept landscape that is the semi-arid high prairie desert until I fall asleep again.

Sunday:Begin pickling eggs and beets for the week's meals.

I will drive to a rehearsal for my band. I will pick up the guitar player half way at a McDonalds. He will say, "How ya Doin' Bones?"

We will get to the rehearsal. It will be smoky. Our keyboard player will say, "Hey Bones, did you bring Jim Beam?" I will say no. He will go across the street and buy 2 24 oz cans of Heineken.

We will play several new songs. Our drummer, the perfectionist, will clack his sticks together and get mad.

We will go get Mexican food. I will then drive home.

Tomorrow, I have no plans and no daughter. I think I need to stay home and relax and do laundry and play loud music and drink wine.

Saturday, get my daughter, going to gym, get my tires rotated, return some things at the store, and then my friend and her kids are cmoing over to hang out.

Please, I know Iife a full life, don't be jealous

Sunday, have my daughters 5th bday party. Can't believe she's five already

Friday: a contra dance. (Was supposed to call last month, but it was snowed out. Fortunately cold temps just boosts the turn-out.) A nice young man is having a birthday and he assured me he'll be at the dance; the whole group will sing to him.

Saturday: Setting the alarm to cash in on my invite to the State of the City address. (Facebookers will have noticed the gleeful post regarding my professional attire scored at a thrift. Photo coming.)

Followed by either a trip to a Civil War event planning meeting, or a folkie jam session & potluck.

Sunday: church, fellowship, the Y, and maybe a restaurant.

Monday: setting the alarm even earlier for the Urban League breakfast, and my other lovely thrift shop jacket.

Need to go assess the parental unit's flat roof leak in the 248. I hear there's an icicle growing in the carport and the ceiling has started to fall in. Thinking I could add a huge tarp to the mix...

Taking the train to DC to hang out with friends...and be a part of the craziness! Leaving 11 on tuesday and have to miss the inaugeration madness because I have a public hearing that night, sigh, so is the life of a planner...

At least you won't be squandering the weekend away doing nothing.

I'm helping ZG put the last of the Christmas decorations away on Saturday.

I so need to come to Colorado and visit. I'm about half-way through my blueprint. We should compare.

    Instead....

Today: Work then taking the wife out to dinner.
Saturday: Library, then going to the gym to workout and then to the pool with the kids.
Saturday: Friends coming over to play board games, etc.
    Sunday: Continue gathering tax documents.

Today: local contra dance, pick-up band. I've unearthed my viola so there will be no push-back about the "wrong" instrument. (Cue the musician jokes, too.) Potluck snacks. I wonder if any Hershey's kisses will be brought.

Saturday: Red Hat party, continue with post-construction home re-settling. Will probably use up another vac bag sucking up the drywall dust.

Sunday: a casual, platonic, friendly, fun field trip (two+ hour drive), with a casual platonic male-type person, to a contra dance.
Three hours of dancing fun hosted by my mentor caller and the band to which I've danced since 1982. Should be lots of my old Detroit-area dancing buddies there.

Tonight: radio show rehearsal. See if I can reattach the dishwasher door my son just tore off while standing on it ten minutes ago!

Sat: Radio show performance. Attend 'afterglow' party with cast and director afterwards.

Sun: Maybe finish reading 'The Indoor Seed Starting Manual'.

Saturday morning I have a spinning class at the YMCA and then Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon, the wife and I are going to try and make it to some open houses in order to progress our quest for home ownership.
