Friends coming in from out of town Friday which is also the Wife's birthday. Pizza on the grill is on the menu. So. Incredibly. Awesome.

Saturday we head out to our land. A little worried about fire potentials. We're burining up here with a number of active fires around the state. NO FIREWORKS!

Took the kids camping over the weekend outside of Payson, AZ. The pines are beautiful and the landscapes are breathtaking. Rim country is awesome. It was in the 90s during the day and 60s at night. Twice, monsoon storms deluged us, but our tent stayed dry!

The kids caught trout, we cleaned them and had trout fish tacos.

I look forward to taking them out again.
Dude, I'm cheesing so hard right now.

Actually excited for this weekend as my wife and I celebrate 5 years. A nice dinner and a getaway from the kids is all I could ask for...

    Should be a good weekend!

Well,it's gonna rain a lot so no beach. Maybe go to Margaritaville and use my $15 gift card, shop the upscale shops over on the beach side.

Nice, Dan! I could almost TASTE the granola!

I was in Vegas all weekend. Clubbing, eating, drinking, shopping, lounging by the pool, more drinking... Fun but exhausting.

Thursday and Friday we head to Glacier National Park for a four-day weekend/birthday celebration. One of my favorite places on Earth. The Going-to-Sun Road opened late but is open. My wife and son are hoping to see Mountain goats. I want to take a mellow hike at Logan Pass. Good weather and a minimum amount of them fighting would be the present I want.

Logan's Pass is where I saw the goats while walking down a trail. I was thrilled to see them up close and thankful they were not bears like the ones that chased me from the bathroom in Waterton!

Have a great time. That is one of my favorite places as well.

Glacier is a beautiful place. It is where I went on my honeymoon with Donna (Wife 2.0) back in 1973. We owned a Jeep CJ5 and rode cross-country after the wedding. Night # 1, Swanton, OH (we made it about 10 miles from Maumee, OH). Night # 2, middle of Iowa. Night # 3 and # 4, Black Hills, SD. Night # 5 and a few more, Apgar Campground, Glacier.

On the way we were eating peanut butter sandwiches and Dinty Moore canned stew, cooked over a flaming Sterno Cup. We were poor...but young and fun and still living on love.

After a night or two in our small tent at Apgar we decided to "splurge".....and we went to West Glacier to grab a couple cheeseburgers. After eating I was browsing through the book rack and saw this.....

A book with a map of the Apgar Campground on the cover and the title was Night Of The Grizzly.

We did not sleep well that night. Not at all. The book tells the story of (coincidently) some young women from NW Ohio who were attacked by a grizzly. If I remember correctly, two of the women were killed by the bear. And later in my life I had a business relationship with the father of one of the women.

Bear (Not a grizzly.....more like a ticklish cuddly type of bruin)

EDIT: Just did some on-line checking. The women were not from NW Ohio but a young boy with them was.....Perrysburg, a suburb of Toledo. It was his father that I had the biz relationship with. Funny how facts get skewed after almost 40 years of Rolling Rocks. Heh heh heh.....

I'm cashing in my incentive leave (from donating blood) and taking tomorrow afternoon off and spending the rest of the day by the pool.
Saturday: Morning yard work, BBQ lunch, afternoon by the pool sipping margaritas.
Sunday: We're planning on hitting the beach in the morning, afternoon???

Friday: interviewing for a job at an engineering company. Not really preparing for it since I applied for a completely different position (and who knows if I will be interviewing for something ELSE when I get there, lmao).
Saturday and Sunday: getting more job applications out the door. I am juggling the job search with a visit next week Thursday to the Mays Business School at Texas A&M (looking forward to seeing Aggieland).
