    Geek Love Flow Chart

This was in the Sunday New York Times:

When looking at it you should see several thread subjects and various postings.
With some editing could it reflect Cyburbia ?

social networks ask people to create a character — one based on the user, sure, but still a distinct entity. Your character then builds relationships by connecting to other characters.
Did Gary Gygax really have that much impact ?

I'm a nerd to the Nth degree so I will be one of the first to admit that Gygax did have a pretty heavy influence on my teenage years and man, there is a path on that flow chart that tracks my life perfectly!

I love the first "No' line!

This reminds of the Brunching Shuttlecocks (-sniff-) old Geek Hierarchy from back in the day.

This brings up an interesting point though.
I never got into DnD when I was younger. I never read comic books, did theater, liked math or science, watched Star Trek, saw Star Wars more than once or read anything by Asimov, Tolkin, etc...
Although I like computers I've never programmed anything past LOGO.

And yet, despite all that, I've always considered myself a geek. I've never really figured out where I sit within geek culture. An outside in a world of outsiders, I guess.

As with all things, geek culture changes. I think the litmus test for geek today is xkcd.com. If you get more the 1/2 the jokes, you are a geek.

Looks like I am not a geek, nothing wrong with that and if I was, nothing wrong with that either

However when I see learned to program PASCAL, some one earns my respect for that.
I had formal training in programing including PASCAL and TURBO PASCAL, and I could not have done it on my own,
