As per the instructions, Hello!
I am a reentry student at Sonoma State University majoring in Environmental Planning, with about a year to go before graduation. I've had two or three different majors (from animal science to marketing), but am very glad to have found planning and this program in particular. The Environmental Studies & Planning Department at SSU is rather modest in size, but so far the experience has far exceeded my expectations.
This summer I am interning for Colorado Preservation in Denver on a historic preservation project, and am seriously considering pursing historic preservation for grad school and beyond.
My other thought, and maybe this should be asked in a different forum, is taking an interdisciplinary approach to grad school. I am very interested in community and environmental psychology, sustainable community development, local food supply, etc. I have yet to find the nexus, but hope to figure that out before grad school apps come due. I enjoy planning, but am particularly interested in studying how people react and respond to the built environment, and what we as planners can do to enhance that experience.
Enough about me. I look forward to spending time on the site and getting to know more about you and the planning profession. Thanks for the opportunity.
