I've attached a poll so we can try to get a count of who's coming. Feel free to elaborate, especially if your a 'maybe'.
Stanfest is July 12, meeting up at midday, and will last however late we want it to.
Yes
No
Maybe, I'll explain below

I'm there.
Provided, as I've said before, complications due to pregnant wife and/or toddler son.
I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?
Katie and this Bear will be there. Non-planners crashing your party. Woo-stan-hoo!

I'll need to evaluate my schedule closer to the time.
Anyone want to adopt a dog?
Maybe, depending on finances. I don't know if I'll have a new job by then. If I'm still unemployed, I'll need to conserve every penny. I may just drive in for the day, but I'd like to stay overnight.
It also depends on the finances for me and I will likely drive home afterwards instead of spending the night if I do go, too. Downtown Chicago is about a 3-3.5 hour drive from here.

too fah for me...
mom has informed me she is getting a new hip at the end of June. Therefore, I may not be able to make it. Otherwise I'd already have my Amtrak ticket.
Just wondering does anyone know of a nice hotel that won't cost a billion dollars? I've had good luck in the past at the Hilton Towers, Monaco, and Residence Inn.

People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor
I might actually be able to make this.....![]()
Dude, I'm cheesing so hard right now.
I should be there.
I think people should also note how many guests they will be bringing (i.e. spouse, significant other, etc.). I know I'm not, but it appears some people are.

I noted on the other Stanfest thread, I will be in Chicago the week prior to Stanfest for a conference (ACSP) - I will like to stay an extra day and go to Stanfest - but not sure if I can... we'll see

Hmmm, lets see.
This may be the only opportunity to not only get a picture of me, and many other planners standing in-front of the global headquarters of the American Planning Association and commenting on how APA is now written in Chinese on the front door.
This Stan is in.

It is my sincere hope to attend. The wife is from the suburbs and the inlaws are always happy to have the grandkids visit. However, our corporate summer party is the following weekend in the Detroit area, and gas money may be tight. I'm putting down as "maybe" but I think the odds are good. Woo hoo!
SOME say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

I have to unfortunately skip out on the activities.
Just found out my sister, brother-in-law (who also happens to be my best friend) and 2 nephews are coming to GR that weekend. I don't see them nearly enough, so no Stanfest for me.![]()
We have three separate threads wandering in Cyburbialand, referencing Stanfest 2008 in Chicago. Browsing those threads I extrapolated the names below as possible attendees. My guess on whether or not they are actually going to go is just that.....a guess. I only present these names to keep the organizational side of my brain from going fuzzier than it already is. Yes, some of the "for sure" names will not make it (gasoline, etc.) and some of the "maybe" names may turn into the planners with the party hat. After browsing threads this is what I see.....

My sincere apologies if I missed somebody who "commited" or "maybe'd".
Spouses and/or sig others may also be tagging. Even with 50% attendance the group size will be quite nice.
Feel free to update my list as necessary. What the hexx, I was feeling free enough to post to the world YOUR intentions.

arghh. The wedding that I have to attend in July is on the 12th. Im out![]()
Dude, I'm cheesing so hard right now.
I'm pretty sure I will be going. If anyone needs a place to crash, my place might be available. I live in downtown Wheaton (25 miles west of Chicago) and am literally right next to the Metra Station, so it's about an hour ride on the train to downtown. Anyone interested, PM me.
Stanfest is just about six weeks away. I know some people expressed an interest in a boat tour, but reservations are suggested. Perhaps in a few weeks we could try to get a final head count and go from there...
Besides the boat tour, what other things do you guys have planned? The boat tour is wonderful but I have been on it a million times, so I might take a pass (you can all enjoy it without me).
This is a tour (whole or parts) I plan to take people on. But see the parent thread in the link for what other's have suggested.
