    hello!...from Orlando

Hey folks. I'm new here so I figured I'd introduce myself. I am not a planner, though I am in grad school currently studying in an Urban and Regional Planning program. I am primarily, at the time, a sort of Planning Designer. For my main objectives and tasks I utilize CAD and GIS software to create exhibits and data analysis tools that support the planning process and miscellaneous decisions involved in said process.

I'm looking forward to being a contributing member around here...I imagine for quite some time I'll be learning a lot more than I dish out, but hopefully it will balance out soon. I think I'll have the best chance for input in the technology forum for now!

Welcome from the Hoosier State, along the Ohio River.

Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

    Hello, from Dallas, TX!
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

Greetings from one state to the north.
I found you a new motto from a sign hanging on their wall…"Drink coffee: do stupid things faster and with more energy"

Hello from a planner that used to work in the Orlando area! Actually, west Orange County, so I should say "Hello from a planner that used to work in far, far, far southern Georgia."

Give a few biscuits to the critters at the Winter Park Dog Park for me,.

Greetings from another planner that formerly worked in the Orlando-area! Where are you studying Urban and Regional Planning in Orlando? I had to leave because there are no programs there for graduate school...at least that I know of

I suppose you could say that West Orange is a world apart from Orlando! Next time I see the doggies I'll make sure to give 'em a treat for ya

I'm at UCF...they have a short graduate certificate program offered by the College of Health & Public Affairs. The core requirements and electives actually provide a pretty good spread of planning courses. It's no M.A., but hey..I'll take what I can get. I love Orlando and have no plans to leave!

Howdy from a planner who grew up in Winter Park and last year left 12 years of employment in the county north of Orange.

(I am old enough to remember when UCF opened in the '60's as FTU...)

Ahh, yes, I am an expatriot of that program, left midway through when I figured out it wasn't really what I wanted, and just graduated from UF's program. We have a couple of former UCF people here that left for the same reasons. Definitely take the Urban Design class if you can, its pretty good. However I am UCF alum, and I love Orlando, Go Knights!
