I switched jobs some months ago, and thought it was about time to let others know. I am now in Greensburg Kansas helping with their rebuilding effort. I feel good going to work each morning; I feel fulfilled coming home. We still have our home in Dodge City, the 45 minute commute is a bit of a killer. I took quite a bit of a pay cut, but find that the money matters little compared to job satisfaction.
One struggle is the balancing act I have to pull. The city collectively wants to go green or sustainable or whatever the buzz word is today. However, individuals just want to get back to life in a real home after year in a FEMA trailer.
Another struggle is trying to go green without every project being bid 50 percent over estimate. It does not help when skilled contractors are a minimum of three hours away.
Greensburg is a very proud and self reliant community. Even after the devastating tornado, there is still a sense of community.
