I work for the "Department of Planning" and under that we have five divisions:
Environmental Division: watershed planning, Soil Conservation, Agriculture, Stormwater
Land Use & Development Division: local municipal referrals, capital projects, community development, transportation
Design Division: Trail planning and CDBG construction projects
Housing Division: Section 8, CDBG housing programs
Administration Division: grant contracts, department accounting

How do you refer to department and how is it broken down

my department is called Planning, Housing, & Community Development. we're unofficially broken up into Planning & Housing. i suppose Community Development then falls under those categories. we also handle GIS and Grants Administration.

and pretty much anything else that gets thrown our way.

mine is Planning Department - it's basically everything that no other department wants to take on as well as the usual planning stuff - the Code Division is physically located here but they are a division of the Fire Department

Hello all,
I'm from Turkey a city planner and landscape planner. I'm interesting "Integrated River Basin Planning and Management" in whole planning system. We discuss that how must be planning border or area of regional planning. According to some view it must be naturel border, like water. But in this way it's difficult to collect some data, like sectorel or demographic... Could you help me how is planning system in your countries. For example is there national phsical plan, bioderversity inventory, landscape planning, environmental planning, rural area and urban area.
