    DEP Interview help ASAP!

    Hello all,

I just got invited to an interview for the Department of Environmental Protection! Its for a very important intern position as a stormwater planner down in NYC and I'm hoping to knock it out of the park. Any advice/tips/experience with interviewing with the DEP? or general planning interview tips?

    Thanks!

Somewhere we have a good entry level interview question thread.

I can't help much with DEP, but make sure you sound interested and know a little about what they do. I try to research current projects and that kind of thing and mention it during the process.
I also try to go beyond just answering the question and relate the question to my experience through a story (quick story). It shows some first hand knowledge and gives examples of how I handle something.
Even if you don't have the experience, you can relate customer service at Taco Bell and what happened one time to how you would handle it for them.

Just remember to make sure to relate to the people somehow and find out what some of their latest projects or issues are. It shows you're interested and know something about what they're doing.

You might also want to take a look at NY SEQRA process. Even if the position is with DEP rather than the State DEC it might help you. Good Luck!
