Quick question about getting an interview

Ok i just have a quick question for those who may know....
I have an MLA, i have done an internship in landscape architecture, but i have not worked in planning specifically....will i not be able to get an interview for an entry level professional planning position because of this?

I don't think this precludes you from getting an interview. Most jobs in the public sector require a degree in planning "...or a related area."

I agree with RJ. Do you want to work in the private or public sector? Someone with your education can go a long ways as a planner specializing in design in the private sector.

You will be able to get an interview and maybe a job depending on the sector.

My incredibly cynical perspective on how people get jobs falls like this:

Private Sector: Your raw talent and potential are what are important
Public Sector: Wether you meet certain black and white qualifications for number of years of experience are important, regardless of your capabilities.

i would go either way, i just want a job for now! i've been mostly applying to public sector though...3 cities denied me interviews though so i didn't know why

can you or anyone suggest any sources of finding private planning firms in my area (orange county, california)? i've gone to the APA chapter website and have gone though their directory but need to find more places to apply.

    thanks again for any help

    Have you looked here?

    http://www.calapa.org/en/jobs/search.asp

And check the various CalAPA sections from the main page. Northern Section seems the most active.
OK, I was a member of the NoSec.

    Orange Section.
