    pointless anthropomorphism of planners

After reading a The Foot Book to my kids and having them point out that I am the fat one in a yellow hat (it's a fish for those that don't know the book), I thought about how kids books turn every person or profession into an animal. The mayor is always some fat animal, in The Fantastic Mr. Fox the attorney is a badger, so what animal is most appropriate for a planner?

This chimp looks about right to me...

Some days I feel as if the poor little worker bee that is about to be swatted by some ignorant bozo is appropriate.

Nah, if planners ever appeared in children's books they'd be portrayed as worrywarts/fretful (about the future). Maybe we'd be squirrels. Squirrels who energetically bury nuts everywhere in preparation for the coming winter.

People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

Those look like otters, not weasels. Planning weasels have on little blue shirts and carry around a scale.

Same family but point taken. They might be ottertects posing as planning weasels.

How about mermaids? They look good in theory, but in reality no-one believes in them.

I believe weasels are how the public sees us. I can see squirrels since we're constantly dodging predators or maybe a meerkat, they're great developers and this one already has the shirt...

Chimp, possibly. Definitely not a bonobo, or the Dating thread would be seeing a lot more action!

I like the meerkat idea too, they look out for each other and are always scanning the horizon, looking for threats...

I suppose that would involve holding your nuts as well

I could see planners as guard dogs as well
