    I'm ready for my close-up

Charlise Theron is in town filming a new movie. I was tapped as an extra for a scene filmed in a restaurant. Tough duty: I had to eat filet mignon in take after take. Here's my favorite part about the whole thing: the local paper wrote that in addition to Theron and the other Hollywood types, "local celebrities such as ...[Otis]" participated. Whoo-hoo, I'm a celebrity! I can't wait for People magazine to do a poll on whether I'm fat.

So, are you going to go all diva on us now?

Charlise Theron? Ya gotta hook me up with that gal. Tell her she's the only one for me and I'm available Saturday.

Better yet, tell her to use her imagination, multiply that times ten, and she'll have a good idea to the first date development.

There also was some zuccini on the plate, but I worked most steadily on the filet. It got smaller and smaller as the takes went on, so they brought me a new one. The extras at the table next to mine played the roles of people who had finished their meals. They had dirty plates in front of them. They were not happy to see me eating the filet.

But even that wouldn't match the reality of me.

Hmmmm. I guess I am going diva.

Divas don't buy. That's for the little people. We do drink, however. Perhaps I'll indulge you and let you buy for me....perhaps.

So, did you have to cross the picket line of the striking writers?

Did you get a SAG card?

Have you updated your imdb profile?

Checked the list of worst dressed celebrities for blue and khaki?

Is your birthday in Wikipedia or those "born on this day" lists?

The script (or "the material" as we on the inside call it) was already written well before the strike. No SAG card; apparently it was an open shop. No update, not yet on the worst dressed list. As for my birthday and the "born on this day" list, I think the only thing that matters to the Cyburbia crowd is whether AP will note my passing. But Kim Bassinger, who also is in the movie, has the same birthdate as Mrs. Otis.

Are you going to 'tell all' to People... or the National Enquirer?

Did you ask Ms. Theron for an autograph? Or save a lock of her hair?

I was waiting until Kim Bassinger came over so that we could double date.

    Please, no plotting, no plotting.

    Off-topic:
I have some stories to tell you about the place you selected (with the help of my former associate planner, who now sleeps with the sheep [he's taken a position in Idaho]) for your last plot.

What happens in Otisville stays in Otisville. No tell all. Also no autograph and no lock of hair. I suppose I should have picked up one of her cigarette butts though....

Hoo boy Otis, you remember that "true story" movie where she killed all those guys in FL? She was kinda nasty there. And, of course, a serial killer.

Just something to keep in mind. Be nice to the lady on all those upcoming publicity shoots...

Oh, it's already plotted! How's Friday work for you?

As for Friday, you said you were busy and wouldn't be there. Now I suppose I'm supposed to be afraid, very afraid.

DP isn't that expensive, so don't worry. And I like to try to relate to the common people, so we can sit at the same table.

I simply know where you'll be Friday. It doesn't have to be me... in fact, better if it isn't!

    Bringing this back...

My movie opens on Friday nation-wide. It's The Burning Plain. I walked into a store today and one of the clerks said, "I see you're in The Burning Plain." Apparently he saw a bootleg copy and saw me in it. So I didn't end up on the cutting room floor after all!

Can't wait to see it on the silver screen!

    Nice work, Otis.

I was in a movie once. It involved the city of Dallas, some cheerleaders, and a woman named Debbie.
