Planners and zoners,

The Iowa Court of Appeals issued an interesting case Wednesday about
the applicability of the open meetings law to a "gathering" between a
planning consultant and members of the Johnson County Board of
Supervisors. Sufficiently interesting (at least in my opinion) that
I've briefed it and posted it on my website:

Click on the link to Michael Dooley v. Johnson County Board of
Supervisors. Even though the court found in favor of Johnson County
the obvious advice is to stay away from such situations. I wonder if
the plaintiffs will appeal to the Iowa Supreme Court. Maybe Rick or
R.J. have some insights on this case.
