As I stated in my introduction, I work in Brazil and would like to have some background information on a special urban design situation: sloped land. Since we donīt get much politician attention on urban planning, land is usually randomly occupied. Even steep slopes end up with this dense occupation especially by low-quality housing.
Thereīs a fast growing town that exists on a valley with few plane areas which Iīve been studying for a few months. My goal is to identify if thereīs a good way of planning this growth with the least impact on nature and creating pleasant, lively enviroment.
I must confess I did a research on the internet trying to find some experiences in other cities around the world and wasnīt very sucsessful. That led me to think whether is it really possible to plan the growth of this town without getting a long linear design that doesnīt climb the slopes so much (the way itīs happening now).
Does anyone is familiar or have an opinion on this issue?? I could call it urban design and development on steep sloped areas.
Thank you all!
