Maister, your poll question asks which one we like the best, but your starting post asks which one we think is the coolest!

Door #2 is by far the coolest. But I like Door #1 the best because it looks majestic and has greenery surrounding it...
    Please clarify and I'll vote.

    BTW, I'm ENTJ.

I can't vote for any of these. Don't you have something from a '50's ranch? Seriously, they're all ugly.

I don't remember my exact MB, but I think I'm the most inhibited un-people person there is.

Which door looks most aesthically pleasing to you.

Actually you will get to look at a 1950's ranch but that will not be until Tues next week and on a new thread. Sorry

O Maister, you certainly didn't make this one easy.

You didn't our opinion on the landscaping, structure into which the door is placed, the molding on the doorway...
You asked our opinion on the doors!

Ergo, I cropped out the doors from each venue--enlarging numbers 1 and 3 so that they could be better compared to the others--and here's what I got:

    Door #5:

    Door #4:

    Door #3:

    Door #2:

    Door #1:
    ]

Door #2 has my vote as the most aesthetically pleasing. It looks like a work of an artist, and as Tide said:
I like the basic symmetry of the overall design yet each individual piece does not have to belong or stand alone.
The art on it has (for me) incredible Feng Shui.

That said, I'd love my house and landscaping to look just like what's pictured with Door #1.

    ^^

Door #5--when viewed in my cropped picture--actually looks an unpainted outer door of a 50s ranch!
Imagine the two upper panels in glass, with the remainder painted in an enamel. SO 50s.

Anybody notice that the painting on Door #4 looks like a cat head with green eyes?

You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone

You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone

This Bear knocked on door 3. This Bear is card-filed in Central Command (possible location, SW Michigan) as INTJ.

Was this the green door you were thinking of?

I picked #2 and I'm an ESTJ/ISTP--I waver between introvert/extrovert and perceiving/judging. I've shifted more to ESTJ as I got older, for what it's worth.

Maister - so what were your expectations about the selected door and personality type.

My unlikely hypothesis was simply that there is a positive correlation between preferences in architectural styles and personality types (as classified by M-B). I had no particular expectation that any one type would gravitate to a specific style but I had a hunch we'd see types clustered in their preferences. I chose a very limited subject (doors).

Based on the earlier personality type thread I had some notion of Cyburbia's MB type composition and knew we had a disproportionate percentage of INTJ's represented. As you can see from the results, though, we did not get very good clustering and our INTJ's tend to be all over the place, thereby suggesting there is no correlation between personality type and architectural styles. I'm going to run the same poll tomorrow using a much broader subject (comparing different styles of residential architecture) and see if it turns out differently.

Thanks for the advance notice. Now that we know, we can really jerk you around on the next one. Oh, if my personality type is different tomorrow than it was on this test, I've probably retaken the test.

Actually there probably is no point in doing a repeat run tomorrow since I inadvertently blabbed what the hypothesis was today. D'oh!

(indeed many are probably asking now 'was there even a point with the first one?')
