2009 March Madness / Big Dance

Is your school in and their seed # ? 11 - Utah State

Who are the schools in your area/region that are in ?
Purdue, Butler, Louisville, Western Kentucky, Illinois
    Oddball
Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
    From Kelly's Heroes (1970)

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.
    From Electric Horseman (1979)

    Binghamton #15 v. Duke #2.

BU made history getting this far. Too bad they're going to get smooshed.

UCLA, my undergrad alma mater, is in, with the lowest seeding (#6) I have ever seen them get. Locally Portland State (#13), and stretching it a bit, Washington and Gonzaga. Would have been nice to see Georgetown in, but we can't have everything.

Since Ball State cannot find their footing in basketball anymore I can only tout my other alma mater #8 Ohio State v. Siena. Should be a good game.

I also love my #11 Dayton Flyers but do not think that they can beat West Virginia...

Ohio is well represented this year with five teams... more than most years. The most from any state this year. Too bad Cincinnati couldn't get themselves in.

    Ohio State
    Dayton
    Cleveland State
    Akron
    Xavier

Just for those stat buffs out there:

    1 state with 5: Ohio
3 states with 4: California, Pennsylvania, and New York
5 states with 3: Kentucky, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas
6 states with 2: Maryland, Virginia, Michigan, Indiana, Washington, Wisconsin
    16 states and D.C. with 1

Ditto. It's nice to be back in the Big Dance after such a long drought!

My graduate shool is not Division 1 so they won't be making it anytime soon.

I also went to Oakland University for two years before transferring to Michigan and I actually love going to their games (they have only been Division 1 for about 10 years now and I live much closer to their campus than I do to Ann Arbor) and they were on the verge of making it into the tournament for only the second time but blew a 13-point lead in about 8 minutes to NDPlanner26 and his NDSU Bison!

My beloved Dawgs are in no danger of making the tournament anytime soon (despite last year's fluke SEC tournament title). My old man's alma mater (Florida State) is in with the #5 seed in east (versus Wisconsin), so I guess I'll have to keep an eye on them.

The women's team from my undergrad alma mater (Oglethorpe University) exited the D-III tournament in the Sweet 16...ended a nice run for the senior class - 97 wins, four NCAA tournament bids, and a Final Four run last season.

    Grad - Charlotte plays Purdue

As mentioned previously, Ball State didn't make it.
