I applaud your posting to seek solace from those with similar experiences, but, please, don't get me started on violence in general.

I think that the best you can do is to try and derive from your horrific experience what lessons that were there, at that moment, for you, and to find a way to move on.

I am a survivor of significant domestic violence as well, (I'll spare you any details), and I swear to be, as we speak, a reasonably well adjusted 60 year-old with a happy family and all the blessings any poor sinner could expect.
