Flagstaff, AZ

There's a lot to like about Flagstaff. It's definitely not what most people who haven't been there think of when they think of Arizona. It's very much a mountain town, and it resembles Durango or Boulder much more than Phoenix or Tucson. It is, of course, quite gentrified and expensive, especially near downtown, but it's the kind of place that's worth paying for.

A lot more depressing and gray than I was expecting. Reminds me a lot of some of the older former industrial towns of northern New England (ex. Manchester, NH, Concord, NH, Augusta, ME, etc.).

My grandparents live in the Verde Valley, not too far from Flagstaff, but over a thousand feet lower in altitude. Flagstaff gets way too much snow for my tastes, but it's fun to visit.

Pictures of Flagstaff, AZ

I appreciate having the opportunity of viewing the pics of Flagstaff... It's evident that historical preservation efforts are in place... Having grown up in New England and having lived in Alaska, the view of snow in the pictures appeals to me. I did like the winter scenes of Flagstaff that are available to the viewer, as opposed to the desert environment that I currently enjoy. Tastefully down...

I have never been a fan of Flagstaff...it gets more snow than most of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan and has as much culture as a wax museum. Housing prices are ridiculous since most of the landed gentry in Phoenix has a summer place. NAU is a substandard university even by Arizona standards.
