    From Feather River Country

I spent twenty-eight years working in planning for Plumas County (population, these days, about 20,000 - 22,000), California, starting as sub-junior flunky in training and ending as first henchman (with a short spell as interim honcho). I retired with the end of 2006. Since then, I have been asked to deal with some specific matters for the county -- and sometimes there has been money in it for me – and have done some consulting. In my new leisure time, I found that Cyburbia has a “Rural and Small Town Planning” forum, and that induced me to join. I plan on spending much of my time elsewhere, but I will check in now and again.

    Hello, from Dallas, TX!
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

    Have family in CA.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

Welcome from a Nor Cal native transplanted to the Florida panhandle.

My best friend from high school walks the streets of Quincy. Say "hi" to Dave from me when you see him. Last I heard, he was still pulling boards off the green chain.

Will do. [Well, at least an unknowing greeting in passing.] If he is still pulling, he is one of the lucky few. Sierra Pacific has shut down the small log mill. That leaves just their large log mill, their co-generation plant, and Collins Pine. Quite a change from my youth. All my brothers worked in the mills, before moving on. I built houses -- until an unscheduled career change.
