Thread: Hello everyone!

    Hello everyone!

    Hey everyone,

My name's David and I'm an undergraduate political science student from UNF in Jacksonville looking forward to going to graduate school for planning. I've enjoyed stealing knowledge from these forums before, so I figured I might as well have the decency to register and introduce myself.

If anyone's cares to know, I'm most interested in using planning as a tool for poverty alleviation, but I would very much like to eventually gain the knowledge of an experienced generalist to best recognize how this goal could be realized. I'm a big fan of regional approaches and I did a research paper on "Fiscal Regionalism and Metropolitan Poverty Pockets in the United States" that I'm going to be presenting at the ACSP conference in October.

I'm also a big fan of raccoons, chocolate pie and dystopian novels.

Thanks for humoring me and I look forward to discussing planning with all of you.

    - David

    Welcome from the triangle!

J-ville is my hometown and its urban planning practices drove me into a planning career. Mostly wanting to know how much better it could be

Welcome from the Hoosier State, along the Ohio River.

Congrats on being selected to make the presentation.

    Hello, from Dallas, TX!
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I hope you're having a good time in Jax so far RJ, we apparently brought in a tornado or two to welcome you to the city. Try to ignore any spelling errors in our local news headlines.
