Hey guys, quick question:
We're trying to put a term on a suburbia-esque street corner that resembles a cul-de-sac. I call it a fan-out, because it's a rounded cul-de-sac like corner that bulges away from the normal turn radius, with properties fronting it forming a fan.
Anyway, have a look at the picture and let me know what you think. Also, that curb extension with cross-walk in the picture doesn't really exist, and it's not what we're talking about here
Thoughts?

I've heard these referred to as eyebrows, as they are curved like eyebrows.

We've always called them "Thumbnails" on the corner or mid block, hate them, just make one a flag lot on the corner.

They are terrible design, I agree. But how about this one?
A knuckle or partial cul-de-sac is a rounded expansion of a street beyond the normal curbline, typically used at a corner or mid-block.
Knuckles are at corners, eyebrows are along straightaways.
My neighborhood has eyebrows and I absolutely hate them. They are a result of inflexible subdivision regs that require a certain minimum frontage. I would much rather see a standard width road with a shared driveway apron or a bunch of driveways in close proximity. These are really really ugly. At least require a landscaped island in the center if you are going to allow these monstrosities.
