Im a planning student at Cal Poly. for my senior project I want to do somethin relates to the following fields: economic (re)development, real-estate, demographic analysis and projections, and valuation (i.e. benefit-cost, cost effectiveness).

I suggest you contact urban19. Perhaps you can do a joint project?

Thats a pretty wide swath of interests, maybe you could be a little more specific. Perhaps a case study on a certain community or state a certain interest as it pertains to a topic. At this point I suggest you do alot of reading on those topics to narrow it down.

Maybe you need to speak with your adviser on dwindling down your topics. I think you seriously threw out at least two whole cal poly classes at us.

    Which Cal Poly?

Are you at Cal Poly Pomona or Cal Poly San Luis Obispo? If you're in Pomona, you should try to get in touch with Steve Preston. He's a graduate of your school, a professor at the planning program at USC, and the Deputy City Manager of the City of San Gabriel. He's also former president of APA’s California chapter; past president of the California Planning Roundtable; chair of APA’s legislative and policy committee; Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners; and former chair of AICP’s Multi-Media Task Force.

So basically, he knows his stuff and is very willing to help out planning students. You could contact him through San Gabriel's Community Development Department: (626) 308-2806.
