i don't think many people are getting much work done today. this is just beyond comprehension.
Even if i try to work, no one else is, and downtown Milwaukee is CLOSED. I feel sick.
I am not even trying to get any work done. Downtown Chicago is pretty much closed too.
Most of downtown Toronto is closing down too...not City Hall though.
This is sickening....I nearly lost my lunch as I sat in my car listening to the radio.
My boss left work, as he has family that works at the Pentagon...this is just beyond comprehension....
I work in a suburban office park near the airport. Some buildings around us are emptying out and we've heard stories that they're closing the interstate near the aiport (that's unconfirmed - I can see it from my window and it looks to be moving fine).
I wish they'd send us home - I may leave anyway ...
Classes at the University of Michigan were closed down just after 12 noon. Unbelievable what happened today. Just unbelievable.
My husband and I just went by the Red Cross building in our town and the line for blood donation was out the door and wrapped around the building, at least 100 people. I guess we'll have to try again after dinner. sigh.
A military plane flew over City Hall not too long ago. Naturally, everyone in the office panicked esepcially since we're on the top floor. Life will never be the same after today.
...to pass the time befor a Planning Board meeting tonight. I still can't believe everything that's gone on in the last 36 hours....I'll do some more reposting to pass time.
PS...in case anyone was wondering from my previous post in this thread...my boss' brother-in-law was on the other side of the Pentagon and is OK...though he still hasn't been home since the crash.
Still very difficult to do much work...never thought this would impact me directly until I got a call saying that someone I know worked at the WTC (not sure which building or how high up).
Luckily, she happened to be late for work that day. Never made it off the PATH.
I'm relieved to hear that nobody here got hurt.
Still, what about the 10,000 fatalities? Where there any planning or architecture firms in the WTC?

Well, the Port Authority had its head offices there...they have planners.
Also the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council, which has alot of planners was based in the WTC. So far as I've heard, most everyone was out. The thing that sucks is that it isn't just the WTC, my old firm's downtown office was at 90 West Street, just across the street, and the building is almost a total loss, all the windows blown out and debris all fallen in.

I think new york should definitely rebuild - of course not a clone and other buildings may still fall, so who knows what will be left of that neighborhood.
