    Guess the Year TM 10/12/09

When was construction begun on this building?

Remember - even if you guess the year correctly you'll impress no one unless some rationale is provided. This is everyone's chance to create the illusion that they know alot.

    I'll posit - 1957?
I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

    I'm going to guess 1960.

Rationale: Somewhat similar use of concrete to the Air Force Academy chapel which was completed in 1962. Of course, there is the Maister sneak factor here so it could have been "started" much earlier.

    1963. Just because.

    1961 was a good year...

Looks like something those Saarninen boys would have done, so I'll take a stab at 1957.

So far a pretty 'tight grouping', but no one has hit the bulls eye yet.

Yes, but you merely posited, whereas I have staked reason to my claim.

    Oh, alright, then: 1959

Since there aren't enough Cyburbanites around today to add their two cents, I'll take another guess: 1966.

My rationale? Oh, something about the white, windowless look of the building that reminds me of another structure constructed around that time... howzat?

Earlier, guys, earlier. I'll go with 1954 as a start year. This looks like an early post-Bauhaus modernist design, as the use of windows is fairly limited. Also note the location of the windows - ground level. If this was a 60's design, reverse the slits and the box windows - the boxes would have been higher up on the structure, possibly even with no windows at ground level.

How come I can't see anything Maiester posts at work, but I can at home? I run IE on both machines (IT rules will not let us download another browser though IT uses Firefox, go figure)

I think 1961 was a good year but lets go with 1962.
It is all a matter of perspective!!!

Easy one. It is the National Radio Club's World Headquarters, 2807 Lexington Avenue, De Noc, Northern Michigan. Built in 1962, it replaced the original structure that was located just west of De Noc's CBD. Lake County Hospital & Heart Care Center is directly across the street. Busy area of north De Noc.

Oh yeah, I s'pose I better post an answer and announce a winner.

The year construction began was 1959 (completed in 1962). The building is in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

So I guess that makes Gedunker the winner of this round. He'd have gotten honorable mention anyway just cuz of his rationale (honorable mention goes to TexanOkie for his explanation too).

Cyburbians are pretty damn good at this game.
