Planning from sociological point of view

    Hi,
    I have a question.
What advantages/disadvantages would you get if you study urban planning from sociological point of view?

Any idea would be much appreciated.

Policy analysis also draws heavily from sociology. But depending on what area of sociology you are concerned with, I expect it could impact planning in any number of ways - transportation planning, economic development planning, community development planning, etc. Even natural resource planning has to take into account human behavior, especially if you are trying to change things. That requires understanding what people do and that's what sociology is. Figuring out how these behaviors can be built on or altered to protect the health, safety and welfare of communities (and maybe improve their quality of life in the process) is what planning is.
