Best way to find an internship/volunteer position in NYC?

I would like to find such position in NYC, but it seems rather difficult finding one online....I was hoping to do something related to urban planning before going to grad school....hmmm

Have you looked at the Center for an Urban Future?

Center for an Urban Future is a New York City-based think tank that fuses journalistic reporting techniques with traditional policy analysis to produce in-depth reports and workable policy solutions on the critical issues facing our cities.

It seems like the Center for an Urban Future has Real Estate and Planning section in their areas of investigation. It's what I would want to get involved with but I don't know who I should contact.....it doesn't specify which person is in charge of HR. hmm

You could always get involved with one of the committees on your local community board, or actually join the board itself. IIRC, you have to actually be on the board to be eligible to join the Land Use committee on each board, but you can serve as a public member on any of the other boards, including Traffic & Transportation and Housing.
